J. Douglas Overbeck, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Leading-edge knowledge. Personal bedside manner. This is how patients continuously describe Dr. Overbeck and his staff at Tuscan Cardiovascular Center. With more than 20 years experience in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine, Dr. Overbeck’s focus is not only treating patients, but educating them on how to maintain a heart healthy life.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Overbeck graduated from Texas A&M in 1980, and went on to complete his medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1984.  He then completed his residency at Vanderbilt University in 1987 and his cardiology fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas in 1989.Doug IMG_5233 4x5 web

During his years in practice as a Cardiologist, Dr. Overbeck has developed a program that is both personalized and patient-friendly. As Dr. Overbeck explains, “Medicine is an art that requires an experienced physician to customize treatment programs to the individual.”

Dr. Overbeck serves on the medical team for the Medical & Surgical Clinic of Irving, where he is the primary Cardiologist, working with doctors from a variety of specialties to provide complete care to patients. He opened the Tuscan Cardiovascular Center in Irving, Texas in order to provide even more comprehensive cardiac care to patients, including preventive cardiology, stress testing, cardiac catheterization and coronary angioplasty and stenting.

A leader in the field, Dr. Overbeck previously served as Chief of Medicine at Baylor Medical Center in Irving, Texas as well as Founding Chairman of Internal Medicine at Las Colinas Medical Center also in Irving, Texas, where he was instrumental in developing the hospital’s cardiovascular program. He has also served on the hospital’s board of directors.

Always the team player, Dr. Overbeck also serves as a sports medicine and cardiovascular consultant for the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks.

The Practice

When Cardiologist Dr. Overbeck founded the Tuscan Cardiovascular Center in 2008, he made only one promise to the North Texas communities that he serves:  to provide a personal approach and individualized care plan, blending his knowledge and experience with the most advanced technology and latest prevention strategies in the field. That is why Tuscan Cardiovascular Center is not the largest cardiac facility in the area. Our focus is not on patient volume and one-solution-fits-all. Instead, we choose to focus on the actual patient so that the care and treatment provided is the right approach for that individual.

Patients at Tuscan Cardiovascular Center also benefit from Dr. Overbeck’s long-term experience in cardiac care, including his affiliation with the Medical & Surgical Clinic of Irving—a multi-specialty clinic offering services from primary care physicians and a variety of specialists. He recently expanded the Vein Clinic to offer varicose vein treatment in Stephenville and Granbury, in addition to Las Colinas.  No matter the issue or health challenge, Dr. Overbeck can provide the right resources and expertise needed, so all you experience is seamless care.

Our Approach to Care

Tuscan Cardiovascular Center has clear goals for our patients and provides the latest proven medications which are evidence-based to prevent cardiovascular events. We believe in aggressive screening to diagnose cardiovascular disease at its earliest stages and have assembled and developed a comprehensive cardiovascular ultrasound and nuclear cardiovascular program.

Dr. Overbeck’s treatment philosophy is simple: to focus on aggressive medical care based on research and evidence, and provided interventional procedures only when needed, such as coronary angioplasty and stenting.

And, when patients require bypass surgery and other procedures, we will work with the patient hand-in-hand to choose the right surgeon and medical facility that fits the patient’s needs. Patients are a critical part of the extended family at Tuscan Cardiovascular Center, and we will provide you with the highest level of care.
